Class 8 old chapter names 2026-27: where each old NCERT chapter is now

CMDLearn ·

If you search for "Microorganisms: Friend and Foe class 8" or "Rational Numbers class 8" and find nothing that matches your new textbook, this page is for you. Class 8 now uses new NCERT books: Curiosity for Science (13 chapters) and Ganita Prakash for Maths, in two parts (7 chapters in each). Their chapter names are new, and some topics have moved to Class 6, 7 or 9. Below, each old chapter name is matched to where its topics now sit, with the page in the new book.

We read these locations in the new books ourselves, chapter by chapter; no practising teacher has checked this list yet. An old chapter rarely moves whole into one new chapter. Where a topic is split, moved to another class, or missing from the new books, we say so. If you spot a mistake, please tell us. For which books are new this year and which are reprints, see what changed in the 2026-27 NCERT books.
